Leading electrical wholesaler, Newey & Eyre has noted a significant increase in recycling volumes, as more customers adjust to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations.

To date the bulk of the material being recycled is lamps, for which the company witnessed a threefold increase between the final three months of 2007 and the second quarter of 2008.

Under the regulations Newey & Eyre has direct responsibility for the recycling of WEEE classified Newlec products. However, rather than just focussing on its own brand, the company has undertaken what it believes to be the easiest and most sensible way of allowing its customers to recycle all the electrical products they purchase from the company.

Providing further support, Newey & Eyre has also produced various information booklets and guides and a dedicated website, to help demystify the new rules for customers.
